Web Reskin Job: Overhaul Home Page, Rewrite Global CSS. $5000
NOTE: This is one of those “surprise, we need it yesterday” web design jobs. Just so that’s out of the way. Turnaround: 3 weeks for the grunt work, 1 week of testing / knob twiddling.
Budget is $5,000. Payment will be made through Elance.com, so you’ll need an account with them, and you will be responsible for any commission Elance subtracts from your fee.
Please carefully read the job description below.
The job:
Existing ski resort website with 300-400 pages, built on an increasingly stale, modified version of the old Microsoft CMS.
This is a reskin, not a migration to a new CMS.
1. Redesign the home page template completely, including graphics, HTML, some JavaScript (nothing super fancy / no AJAX), and CSS.
2. Scrap and rewrite the global CSS for the site
3. Adapt your new global style sheet so it also governs a subdomain-hosted social networking platform (i.e. so the social platform matches the new look of the site, despite using some different classes and id’s)
4. Modify the existing sitewide header and footer template so it remains consistent with the home page redesign.
- You will be provided with web metrics (Omniture SiteCatalyst) to use as a basis for creating the visual hierarchy of the home page, and your ability to interpret metrics and make design decisions will be as important as your graphic design chops.
- Naturally, business “stakeholders” will also have their say. But the idea is to arm ourselves (i.e. you and me) with data-driven arguments in advance, so we’re not playing the “Yeah, but I don’t like yellow” game with anyone.
How To Offer Your Skills (read carefully):
1. Be sure you understand the information above
2. Email me for the rest of the specifics, using the address below
3. Include links or attachments showing relevant, previous work
4. Explain (briefly) why you are particularly capable of making design decisions based on existing metrics about user browsing and purchasing behavior.
