To the untrained eye, the design of this rocket may appear amateurish and unstable, what with the longishness and excessive baseline turpitude.

However, speaking as a physicist (there’s no reason you can’t do that if you want), the implausibility of a vertically ascending object maintaining a linear vector(sp?) — if distributed with equal chaos in a radially symmetrical fashion — is all but guaranteed to average out to a steady, predictable course.

It’s exactly the same phenomenon that keeps a gyroscope upright indefinitely, and why toilet water spirals counterclockwise in three out of five hemispheres (see String Theory).

If anything, the design of this rocket was insufficiently arbitrary.
